Rev. Coqui Conkey

Rev. Coqui Conkey became Associated Church’s lead minister in April 2016. She received her Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in New Brighton in 2002. She was ordained into ministry by the Minnesota Conference of the United Church of Christ in 2004. She continued to pursue specialized training for Intentional Interim Ministry and served congregations in Minnesota, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York in this capacity prior to accepting Associated’s call to serve here.

Pastor Coqui was raised in Aurora, Colorado, where she was a Camp Fire Girl, played the cello, attended Parkview Congregational UCC, and appropriately pestered her three younger siblings. She attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs and received her Bachelors of Arts degree. She majored in English with an intent to teach. She taught junior high reading for four years in Holly, Colorado, and North Platte, Nebraska.

Pastor Coqui “ripened” in Minnesota where she moved when she married. She worked in office administration for an Employee Assistance Program and with Park Nicollet Health System. She and her then husband raised two daughters. She sang in the church choir, taught Church School, and served in elected leadership positions prior to attending seminary. She also served the Minnesota Conference (UCC) on several committees, including a brief time on the Board of Directors.

Pastor Coqui’s most recently served another Presbyterian Church (USA) and United Church of Christ federated congregation. This gave her the chance to begin learning more about the PC(USA). She will continue to find a balance of involvement with both of Associated’s denominations.

Pastor Coqui enjoys bike riding, walking and low stress hiking, occasionally sewing or doing needlework, reading fiction, watching good movies, and attending live musical and theatrical productions.

Pastor Coqui remarried in September 2014. She and her spouse are delighted to be in southern Minnesota – a return to the state for both. Between them, there are four children, six grandchildren, a cat and a dog.
